IMT Mines Albi, an Institut Mines-Télécom general engineering school
Located in the heart of South West France, IMT Mines Albi has embodied academic excellence in engineering since 1993. IMT Mines Albi is a school of the French Ministry for the Economy, Finance and Industry, and is part of Institut Mines-Télécom, a French federal institute of technological universities of science and management. As a member of the University of Toulouse, it is authorized by the Commission des titres d'ingénieur (CTI) to award engineering degrees.

Governance of IMT Mines Albi
IMT Mines Albi is headed by Lionel Luquin, appointed Director by decree in December 2021 for a five-year term by the Minister for the Economy, Finance and Industry, on the recommendation of the general management of IMT and on the advice of the Management Board.
The Director of IMT Mines Albi is supported by a management team consisting of the Deputy Director and the Secretary General. The Executive Committee also includes the Director of Training and the Director of Research, PhDs and Business Intelligence. The school is governed by a School Board, chaired by Florence Fouquet, One Retail Managing Director at ENGIE, and comprising 24 members:

The Education Committee plays a key role in the continuous improvement of the quality of teaching offered to engineering students. It issues opinions on the direction and general organization of training courses, and especially on academic regulations.
The committee is chaired by the Director of IMT Mines Albi and has 27 members, including:
- four representatives of lecturers and research professors, including 3 permanent staff, and one representative of external lecturers, elected for three years;
- four student representatives elected for one year:
- one representative of engineering students with student status,
- one representative of engineering students on work-study programs and engineering students on lifelong learning degree programs,
- one representative of students in Master’s or Advanced Master’s programs,
- one representative of PhD students.
- four members appointed for three years by the Minister in charge of Higher Education, the Vice-Chairman of the General Council for the Economy, Industry, Energy and Technology, the Director General for Enterprise at the Ministry for Industry, and the School’s alumni association,
- six members appointed for five years by the School Board for their pedagogical, scientific, technological, economic or industrial expertise.

The Research Committee issues opinions on the direction and general organization of the School’s research activities and on the academic program for national postgraduate degrees.
The committee is chaired by the Director of IMT Mines Albi and has 21 members, including:
- three representatives of research professors and permanent research staff, elected for three years,
- one representative of PhD students elected for one year,
- two members appointed for three years, by the Minister in charge of Research and the Vice-Chairman of the General Council for the Economy, Industry, Energy and Technology,
- eight members appointed for five years by the School Board for their scientific, technological, economic or industrial expertise.

IMT Mines Albi is one of France’s top general engineering schools, according to several rankings. It was in 42nd place in the 2024 l’Étudiant ranking. IMT Mines Albi was ranked 11th among students’ preferred engineering schools according to the Speak & Act 2024 ranking, which recognizes schools offering the best student experience.
In 2022, IMT Mines Albi was 4th among French schools in the U-Multirank ranking. This award highlights the quality of IMT Mines Albi’s teaching, with the top “A” mark for:

Recognized international expansion
IMT Mines Albi is a resolutely international school. In 2023, it once again obtained the two-star “Bienvenue en France” certification, attesting to the excellence of its policy of welcoming international students.
All IMT Mines Albi students are required to have significant international experience in order to complete their general engineering degree. The school has over 130 partnerships with prestigious universities around the world. Students can enhance their skills and employability through the Erasmus+ program, which supports academic mobility in Europe.
