The PhD program at IMT Mines Albi
The PhD program involves training in and through research, as well as professional experience. It provides the PhD student with scientific expertise in a given field of research and project management skills, while enabling the production of new knowledge. The PhD program is accompanied by additional scientific and transdisciplinary training validated by the doctoral school.

The PhD (level 8), registered in the French National Directory of Professional Certifications (RNCP), is recognized internationally.
Over a 3-year period, PhD students carry out their research with:

IMT Mines Albi is authorized to award PhDs for the three doctoral schools in Toulouse:
• AA: Doctoral School of Aeronautics and Astronautics
• EDSYS: Doctoral School Systems
• MEGEP: Doctoral School of Mechanics, Energy, Civil and Process Engineering
PhD students register and defend their thesis at IMT Mines Albi. General and scientific training is provided by the doctoral schools of the University of Toulouse and IMT Mines Albi. All PhD students at the school are paid.

The Industrial Engineering Center develops decision support methods and tools adapted to uncertain, heterogeneous and collaborative contexts. To achieve this, it combines approaches related to Industrial Engineering and Artificial Intelligence.

The RAPSODEE UMR CNRS 5302 research center (Recherche d’Albi en génie des Procédés des SOlides Divisés, de l’Energie et de l’Environnement - Albi Research in Process Engineering of Divided Solids, Energy and the Environment) specializes in process engineering, with a focus on harnessing the functional properties of products. It brings together a range of scientific expertise rarely found in a single entity, in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, process engineering, energy, heat engineering and modeling/simulation.

To apply to the PhD program, you must hold a French Master’s degree or another degree conferring the grade of Master (level 7 RNCP). If this degree requirement is not met, the Director of IMT Mines Albi may, by exemption and on the recommendation of the doctoral school board, enroll students who have completed studies of an equivalent level abroad, or who benefit from Accreditation of Prior Learning provided for in Article L. 613-5 of the French Education Code.
PhD enrollment is decided by the head of the institution on the recommendation of the director of the doctoral school, after consultation with the thesis supervisor and the director of the research unit. PhD students benefit from training courses offered by the doctoral school and IMT Mines Albi. Enrollment must be renewed at the beginning of each academic year. A thesis proposed by a research center must be accompanied by funding for the PhD student.
