In the student track, there are five options from the second year onwards, enabling you to become a general engineer who plays an active role in society. These options focus on strategic themes for the ecological, digital and industrial transitions of the future.
A program in line with your future goals
- First year of the general engineering program
The first year involves a core curriculum aimed at developing a scientific and technical foundation, and introducing students to engineering professions and the workplace. An operator-level internship of at least one month is compulsory.
- Second year of the general engineering program
The second year lessons consolidate the general engineer’s scientific, technical and economic foundations, and enable the curriculum to be customized with elective courses. From the first semester, you will be challenged, with the choice between a research project, an innovation project or an entrepreneurial project. An assistant engineer-level internship of at least four months in France or abroad is compulsory. The choice of option is made from the second semester of the second year.
From the second semester of the second year, you can also obtain the status of a salaried employee by entering a work-study contract with a company (apprenticeship or vocational training agreement). This contract is for 18 months. It can also be 12 months if you start in your third year.
- Third year of the general engineering program
The first semester of the third year is devoted to in-depth studies in one of the five options, with the choice of an associated pathway. In the second semester, you will complete a six-month internship in a company to develop the autonomy, skills and know-how of an IMT Mines Albi engineer in a professional context. You can take advantage of this final year to switch to salaried employee status and complete your studies with a one-year work-study program with a company.
